Dawn Geschwindt for Maidencreek Township Supervisor
I’m Dawn Geschwindt, a small business owner, lifelong Berks County resident, and proud Maidencreek neighbor. I’m running for Township Supervisor because I care deeply about our community and believe leadership should put people first.
For 14 years, I’ve run Hair Styling by Dawn here in Maidencreek, where I’ve built strong ties and gained skills like listening, problem-solving, and balancing priorities that township leadership demands.
I grew up in Kutztown, raised my family in Fleetwood, and now share my life here with my husband and grandson. I know what makes this place special: great neighbors, pride in our homes, and stepping up for one another.
I've been involved with community service since I was a kid. I became involved with the direct issues of Maidencreek during a time of instability, and I was able to help restore trust in local government. I’ll keep us on that steady path to ensure common-sense, transparent governance that will focus on residents while advocating for our community. My priorities will include:
· Smart Growth: Supporting responsible development that preserves Maidencreek’s character while ensuring infrastructure keeps pace with growth.
· Improving Parks: Investing in our local parks to enhance recreational spaces for families, youth, and seniors.
· Protecting Waterways: Safeguarding our natural resources through better stormwater management and environmental conservation.
This election isn’t just about managing township business: it’s about choosing a leader with life experience, who knows Maidencreek inside and out, who’s shown up when it mattered, and who’s ready to lead with integrity, transparency, and heart. I’m that leader.
Together, we can protect what we cherish about this community while building toward a brighter future. This fall, I’d be honored to earn your trust – and your vote!
FAQ - What does a Township Supervisor Do?
While talking to people in the community, many ask me what does a Township Supervisor do. Here is the answer.
In a Pennsylvania Second Class Township, the Board of Supervisors serves as the elected governing body responsible for managing local government operations. As a member of this board, a township supervisor plays a vital role in setting policies, enacting local laws, overseeing the township budget, and ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of residents.
Key responsibilities include managing township finances, maintaining roads and infrastructure, regulating zoning and development, and addressing public safety and environmental concerns. Supervisors also engage with the community, appoint members to boards and commissions, and oversee day-to-day operations.
In short, township supervisors are the driving force behind local decision-making, working to improve quality of life and represent the interests of their community.
